Wildlife Sanctuary Details

Moe Yun Gyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary is renowned for its water birds and migratory birds. It is located between Bago township and Waw township in Bago division, 70 miles (2 hours drive) from Yangon. It is 40 sq miles and was established in 1988. A shallow rectangular man-made water storage reservoir was constructed here in 1904. The major inflows are from Pyin Bon chaung ( creek ), Wan Bei Inn chaung, and Phayalay chaung. The majors outflows are to Zwebat chaung, and Kabin chaung. Two sluices in the eastern bank drain water to the Sittaung river.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Yangon to Moeyungyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary ( 2 hours drive ). Check in to Moeyungyi resort boat house.

Day 2 – Day 5 ( 4 days ): Activities at the wetland such as conservation, education, research, birdwatching and boat trip around the wet land. Accommodation at Moeyungyi resort boat house.

Day 6: Drive back to Yangon. End of services.

Wildlife Sanctuary Details

Mainma Hla Kyun Wildlife Sanctuary is best known for its variety of mangroves, crocodile watching and bird watching. It is located at Bogalay township, Ayeyarwaddy Delta Division. It is 53 sq miles in size and was establish in 1993. The sanctuary can be reached by car or boat (6 hours by car from Yangon, one day trip by IWT ship, or 4 hours by express boat from Yangon to Bogalay).

The Mainma Hla Kyun Sanctuary is an island of a part of Ayeyarwaddy Delta. There are still some mangrove forest in Pyin Da Ye reserved forest which is located at the south east. It is formed by sedimentation within the growing Ayeyarwaddy Delta. Also it is a tidal island. Extensive areas of mud are exposed at low tide, considering the large tidal range.

Depart from Yangon by express boat in the morning and arrive to Bogalay in the afternoon. Hire a boat at Bogalay and boat trip to Thaung Chaung camp at MMHK. Overnight stay at camp.

Day 2 – Day 5 ( 4 days ): Activities at wet land wildlife sanctuary such as conservation, education, research works on ecology of the mangrove forest at wet land. Bird watching, crocodile watching and study of mangrove forest species.

Day 6: Back to Yangon by car, by IWT ferry ship, and express boat. End of services.

Indawgyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary Send Booking Query

Indawgyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary is best known for its water birds and migratory birds. It is located at Moe Nyin township, Kachin state, 772 miles north of Yangon. It is 315 sq miles and was established in 2004. To get there, fly from Yangon to Mandalay, ( 1 hr ) then to Moe Nyin or Ho Pin by train, ( 18 hrs ) then to Lone Tone village by public bus or hired car ( 3 to 4 hrs ). Lone tone village is located on the bank of Indawgyi lake.

The lake basin is slightly asymmetrical with greater depth and steeper sides to the east. The depths along the axis of the lake have vary between 15.88m and 22.19m. There are many inflows into the lake. The major inflows are from Nanyinkha chaung in the southwest part and Nansandar chaung in the northwest. This is located at south of Nyanbin village. The Nan Mu chaung also flows in from southwest. The others such as Nantaungsal, Nanmelong, Nanmale, Khagyi and Nantame chaung all flow into the lake. At the northeast parts of Indawgyi lake, Indawgyi chaung flows out to Moe Gaung township.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Mandalay, at afternoon, depart from Mandalay to Moe Nyin or Ho Pin by train. ( 18 hrs on train ). Overnight on train. Next day, drive to Lone Tone village by hired car or with public bus. (or ) fly to Myint Kyi Na, then drive to Lone Tone ( 6 hrs drive. )

Day 2 – Day 5: Activities at Indawgyi wet land such as conservation, education, research and birding in the wet land.

Day 6: Drive back to Moe Nyin or Ho Pin o Myint Kyi Na. Wait the train at Moe Nyin or Ho Pin or overnight stay at Myint Kyi Na.

Day 7: Fly back to Mandalay from Myint Kyi Na in the morning and fly back to Yangon from Mandalay in the evening. End of services.

Best known for water birds and migratory birds and for the floating agriculture farms of the lake. Located at Nyaung Shwe, Pin Long, and Phe Khone township, southern Shan state, Myanmar. It is 248 sq miles wide and establish in 1985. It can be reached from Yangon by flight to Heho, then drive to Nyaung Shwe ( about 1 hrs drive ); or by public bus from Yangon ( 16 hrs ); or by train from Yangon via Thazi, change the train at Thazi and then to Shwe Nyaung station ( 18 hrs on train ), then drive to Nyaung Shwe ( 30 min drive ).

A natural lake in a broad Nyaung Shwe valley between 2 lime stone ridges rising to 1,200 m. Maximum measured depth of 4 m. It’s believed to have been formed during the Tertiary period some 350 to 400 million years ago. Majors inflows are from Nanlit chaung from the north, Than Daung and Bilu chaung from the west, and Ye Pe chaung from the northwest. The major outflow is the Bilu chaung at the southern end of the lake.

Day 2 – Day 5: Activities at Inle wetland wildlife sanctuary, such as conservation, education, research works. Also can enjoy the birds watching for water birds and migratory birds.
